Singer/pianist Froese has proven once again that you don't need a big record contract and thousands of dollars to make a wonderful album.  Recorded straight to DAT at an Anglican church in her hometown of Saskatoon, the 13 dark little songs that make up the Obituary have a quiet urgency and maturity.  From the sparse clockings of "Dalhousie Str. Waltz" to her heart-breaking condition of R.E.M.'s "Fall On Me," the album flows and floats effortlessly along in ways that those big-name over-the-top piano women just can't.  Stirring shadowplay from a huge talent.

Gayleen is back from showcases in Calgary and Toronto, and busy recording songs for her impending...sorry, I mean, upcoming, CD.  When asked how her showcase went, Gayleen said--
"Good.  The gigs went well.  I met some good people.  I was on TV and radio in Toronto.  I have lived and breathed music and music promotion for the past few weeks.  Now my short term plans include eating 7-11 nachos and watching Pretender reruns, and I don't wanna talk about music anymore."
Her short term plans also include two performances in Saskatoon:
     1.  Downtown at the Canadian Original Music Party, July 11th at 2:20p.m.
     2.  The Taste OF Saskatchewan Festival in Friendship Park at 7 p.m. on July 17th.
As always the throwing of money, flowers, and clean underwear is encouraged.
Work continues on Gayleen's promotional EP.  She recently taped an interview from a purloined boat near Saskatoon's Broadway Bridge.  She claims the interview will contain "several incriminating comments which I already regret.  What's the statute of limitations on ticket scalping?"
