THE NEWSLETTER FOR PEOPLE WITH SOME BIZARRE COMPULSION TO FIND OUT WHAT GAYLEEN FROESE IS UP TO THESE DAYS.
"Saskatoon's
Gayleen Froese has been selected to appear at the North by Northeast Music
Conference in Toronto in June. The industry showcase is the place
to be for undiscovered talent."
It's in
the papers, so it must be true -- Gayleen is going back to Toronto, June12th
to 15th. While you'd think she was making this trip for the showcase,
Gayleen says NXNE is incidental. "A guy I went to school with owes
me five bucks, and it's time to shake him down."
Don't credit
the rumour that last year's visit -- ostensibly to play at the Free Times,
do a live radio show, and meet with label reps -- was actually prompted
by a desire to see if the Silver Snail had any decent X-Men action figures.
Gayleen was way more interested in rare Illuminati cards.
For those
of you in the Toronto area, Gayleen's NXNE showcase is Friday, June 12th,
10pm at the Free Times Cafe, 320 College Street. Apparently admission
is by wristband, and varies depending on what kind of pass you buy.
She'll also
be showcasing at the All Indie Weekend, which is in Calgary this year.
Her performance is Saturday June 6th, 9pm, at Crossraods -- 2120 16th Ave.
NE.
Gayleen
was at Audio Art in April, mixing and mastering seven songs for her promotional
CD-ROM. These songs will become part of her full-length CD, which
will be out in early `99. In keeping with her cheerful outlook, the
working title for Gayleen's promo EP is "Plague".
Watch for
an upcoming interview on STV's Colleen and Company -- we're not sure about
the air dates, but this interview will air during commercial breaks, more
than once. Keep an eye out while you're watching Xena and you'll
probably catch it eventually.
